Placement Fees from 1 March 2024
However, from 1 March 2024, Amazon has announced that it will start placing items closer to customers in multiple warehouses.
For FBA sellers, this means that deliveries now need to be sent to 4+ warehouses instead of the usual 1-3 depending on the type of items you have.
Amazon's commissions are constantly changing and increasing, and in early 2024, the company announced their NEW placement fees for FBA.
We know that our FBA shipments are usually sent to the nearest centre, when they are received, Amazon places our items in other warehouses - this is called FC Transfer or Fulfillment Center Transfer. And there's never been a charge for this before.
Where to view distribution options?
1. Go to Settings > Fulfillment by Amazon
2. On this page, click Edit on the Inbound Settings box
3. Select the best option for your business
What are the options for distribution of goods?
- Amazon-optimised shipment splits. With this option, you send items to multiple locations, roughly a minimum of 4 warehouses in one shipment. With this option, you will pay minimal or no fees.
- Partial shipment splits. With this option, you will ship to fewer warehouses and pay a commission for each shipment. You will then be able to choose your region.
- Minimal shipment splits. Using this option, you will ship the item to a minimum number of locations and then Amazon will distribute it to its other warehouses. There will be an additional fee for each item in your shipment and this will be the most expensive option.
Take note! Amazon itself states that any deliveries to the ‘West’ region will incur additional fees.
Dependence on type and size of goods
Depending on the type and size of itemsPlacement fees apply to both standard and large-size items.
For example, a small standard size item weighing 16 ounces or less may be charged between $0.21 and $0.30 per unit.
